Founder and President
Mr. Miller is the Founder of Instream and has served as a Director and President since Instream’s inception in 2008.
Mr. Miller is the visionary behind Instream and provides hands on direction to the company. He has a strong background in start-up venture financing, business relationship management, corporate development, and hydrokinetic projects.
Prior to Instream Mr. Miller worked in the investment industry primarily with cleantech and renewable energy companies.
Shane Grovue, PEng, PMP
Director, Engineering and Operations
Mr. Grovue joined Instream in 2013 as the Director of Engineering & Technology, and is responsible for leading technology development and deployment of power projects. He comes to Instream from Powertech Labs, a clean energy subsidiary of BC Hydro, where he was instrumental in developing and delivering several leading-edge, multi-million dollar clean technology projects, including leading Instream’s first deployment at Duncan Dam in 2009.
Mr. Grovue’s 12 years of experience in the clean energy and utility sector includes clean technology and energy resource assessments, energy planning and asset management, distributed generation, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This combination of R&D and utility experience brings large-scale perspective to the commercialization and deployment of Instream’s technology.
Mr. Grovue is a registered Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional, holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of British Columbia, and speaks French.
Ruby Lu, CPA, CGA
Ms. Lu joined Instream in 2014 as Controller bringing her extensive expertise in business accounting and finance.
Ms. Lu is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified General Accountant and a recipient of 2013 CGA-BC’s Top 10 Recognition Award. She has over 10 years of experience in full-cycle accounting and financial reporting in publicly traded and private companies. She has held positions with Webtech Wireless Inc., a global provider of telematics and location-based services, and NGRAIN, the leading provider of interactive 3D simulation software. She is also a Chartered Professional Accountants Canada Mentor, providing guidance to future CPAs to help them develop the required competencies and skills to excel in today’s business environment.
Ms. Lu holds a Bachelor of Administration degree (Gold Cord Award) in Accounting from Douglas College.
Joe Hussey, CEng
Engineering Manager UK
Mr. Hussey joined Instream in 2017 to support UK operations. He comes to Instream from ITPEnergised, a global renewable energy consultancy, where he headed up the offshore renewables team.
Mr. Hussey has a diverse range of experience in the development of renewable energy projects and engineering design spanning 18 years. He has a background in automation systems design but has spent most of his career in offshore renewables project development, and providing R&D and technical consultancy services to wave, tidal, and offshore wind projects in the UK, Europe, US and Asia Pacific region.
Mr. Hussey is a chartered engineer and holds a Masters and Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
