Founder and President
Mr. Miller is the Founder of Instream and has served as a Director and President since Instream’s inception in 2008.
Mr. Miller is the visionary behind Instream and provides hands on direction to the company. He has a strong background in start-up venture financing, business relationship management, corporate development, and hydrokinetic projects.
Prior to Instream Mr. Miller worked in the investment industry primarily with cleantech and renewable energy companies.
Shane Grovue, PEng, PMP
Director, Engineering and Operations
Mr. Grovue joined Instream in 2013 as the Director of Engineering & Technology, and is responsible for leading technology development and deployment of power projects. He comes to Instream from Powertech Labs, a clean energy subsidiary of BC Hydro, where he was instrumental in developing and delivering several leading-edge, multi-million dollar clean technology projects, including leading Instream’s first deployment at Duncan Dam in 2009.
Mr. Grovue’s 12 years of experience in the clean energy and utility sector includes clean technology and energy resource assessments, energy planning and asset management, distributed generation, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This combination of R&D and utility experience brings large-scale perspective to the commercialization and deployment of Instream’s technology.
Mr. Grovue is a registered Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional, holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of British Columbia, and speaks French.
Philippe Tavitian (Master in International Business)
Senior Vice President Business Development
Philippe is a French National and has joined Instream in March 2020 but is in close contact with the company since 2014, when, as Business Development director of a large French Energy Group, he first approached Instream for partnering.
Philippe is an International Commerce Expert with 25 years of experience in different Industries such as Aeronautic, Armament Systems and Energy. He has worked and lived in the USA, Mexico, Germany, and of course France. Philippe expertise has been recognized at the highest level of the French Government, when he was named by France’s Prime Minister as a French Foreign Trade Adviser (Conseiller du Commerce Extérieur de la France - CCEF), in 2016.
Philippe is an intense and passionate person, and as such has different pro bono activities: Former Football player (not soccer, he loves to underline) he today serves as position coach in Marseille Team, he also gives classes in different business schools, and tops all this by providing guidance to small companies that want to start exporting.
